Akeneo reviews: Statistics you want to know

Do you remember our recent blog post about Akeneo? This PIM (Product Information Management) platform is useful and versatile. Honestly, we like working with it very much. We decided to take a look at what other users think about this platform. That’s why we analyzed tens of different Akeneo reviews and gathered some of the crucial statistics related to this software. Let’s have a look!

What is Akeneo?

Before we get to that, though, here is a short introduction. Akeneo is a PIM platform, which means it’s crucial in every online store. Such platforms are used to distribute product information to all channels used by your online store, e.g., your website, mobile application, and even printed materials (if you use them). Thanks to PIM platforms, you can manage your e-commerce business more easily. With Akeneo, you can create multiple content distribution channels and tailor them to your business needs. As a result, each of your marketing and communication channels is ready to gather and showcase all the product information you want, the way you want.

What do users like about Akeneo?

The first thing we wanted to know is why others use this platform. What are the major benefits and advantages of Akeneo? The majority of users mention the intuitiveness of this software. People appreciate easy-to-use and intuitive interface and customization capabilities. Although Akeneo has tons of different functions (“full of simple yet smart functionalities”), you can easily customize a new function that fits your needs. You can do the same thing with product data so that it has the form that fulfills your business needs. 

Several users mentioned the importance of localization. Thanks to it, customers can search for products in their own language, which is extremely beneficial for stores operating internationally. Others mention rule-based attribution. With this feature, you can update fields based on different attributes, which decreases the time necessary to create and manage product data and also increases accuracy.

Lastly, users appreciate a large partner network (Global4Net is a part of this network, so we fully support that opinion!), thanks to which Akeneo constantly evolves. One user mentioned that all the issues they struggle with are being addressed with new releases, so the community around Akeneo definitely does its job!

The last benefit that we want to mention is that Akeneo is quick when it comes to implementation and training other employees to use it. Again, that’s because of great usability and intuitiveness.

What do users not like about Akeneo?

Interestingly, there aren’t many dislikes out there! Some users mention that the implementation process took longer than they expected (primarily due to customizing some elements). One user on G2.com mentioned the question of events API: “The level of changes that trigger events is not the required level we would like. A more granular view on this would suit us better.”Another user mentioned the question of errors – sometimes they just occur, and you’re not sure why. There isn’t sufficient insight into what happens inside this platform. Another opinion said that “Akeneo requires some knowledge and training to use the tool effectively.”

All in all, the majority of users say that this software doesn’t have any significant problems that would be deal-breakers for them. When asked about dislikes, some people say they wish they had bought it earlier. That says a lot, doesn’t it?

Statistics about Akeneo

Lastly, we want to show you a bit more about the Akeneo user base and usage in general. Here, we relied on two sources – G2.com and Gartner.com. On G2, Akeneo’s average rating is 4.5, and on Gartner – 4.3 (although we have to mention that this rating is based on just 5 votes, whereas G2 has over 160 votes). On G2, 113 users rated Akeneo with the highest rating – 5.0. 42 users rated it 4.0, and just three users gave this platform 3 stars. On Gartner, 60% of users gave this platform 4 stars, and 40% – five stars. There were no lower ratings. 80% of Gartner users would recommend this platform to others.

That’s the last question we want to answer. Here, again, we have to rely mostly on G2 data. According to data from 2022, Akeneo is mostly used by companies representing five market sectors:
