Online sales in the U.S. may rise to 434 billion dollars in 2017

According to recent eMarketer’s forecasts, an online retail sales in the U.S. will grow by an average of 14% per year over the next four years, reaching a value of over 424.2 billion dollars in 2017. The largest increase will record clothing industry and electronics – respectively 17% and 15.3%.

 

Analysts predict that this year e-commerce sales, excluding travel and ticket sales, will reach 258.9 billion dollars – almost 15% more than in 2012 (225.2 billion dollars). However, the annual growth rate will be slightly decrease and subsequent years: 14.6% in 2014, 14.2% in 2015, 13.6% in 2016 and 12.8% in 2017 – eMarketer says.

 

Mobile devices will play an increasingly important role in generating online sales. eMarketer believes that the orders made by smartphones and tablets now account for 11% of total online sales, and predicts that the share will reach 25% in 2017.

 

By 2017, the largest increase in e-commerce will drive products from apparel and accessories industry – 17.2%, while sales of computers and electronics will increase the time by about 15.3%. How to provide forecasts for 2016 online sales in the electronics industry will reach 175 billion dollars, or 45.6% of total online sales overseas. Far in the background will be food, multimedia, toys and hobby. eMarketer their forecasts based on historical data from the U.S. Department of Commerce and the data and analysis of trends in e-commerce.
