Magento is a favorite platform for many sellers. It offers an uncomplicated environment for conducting e-commerce activities. It allows for continuous conversions and modifications that are unavoidable in this industry. The constant development of the platform heralds the future. There are many companies that adapt and create e-commerce stores tailored to the Magento platform. In 2020, it will see a new version with many improvements and additions.

Magento 2.4

Forecasts

The official Magento 2 backlog provides some tips on what might be in the new version of the platform. It is not yet known how many of these patches will appear as an update version 2.0, and how many of them will be released as version 2.4. An update in B2B will appear, and both simple and advanced searches will be improved. A big change is planned in the scope of editing and previewing. Personalization will look completely different, as will the admin panel, product recommendation and promotions.

GraphQL

GraphQL can be used to build the frontend in Magento 2. It is an alternative to REST and SOAP. The decision on this type of update is successful, because Magento 2 PWA Studio is based on GraphQL. Last year, changes in the design of the basket and methods of payment were also announced. GraphQL API will apply to the cart, orders and user account. Changes in the framework itself have also been announced. So Magento 2.4 promises to be under the sign of GraphQL.

Asynchronous Import

Another feature that will probably appear in the new version will be asynchronous import. Unfortunately, the import and export functions have left much to be desired so far. Especially when compared to external add-ons available on the internet.

Magento 2.4 may have the option of asynchronous import, contained in a separate module. The changes will mainly affect the format – now you can import any format. The asynchronous import add-in will first receive, check and then return the file in UUID format. Then it is used to import customer data. The module will process and analyze the file. He will later split it into individual messages and send it to the Asynchronous API.

Integrations with Adobe products

Magento 2.4 will certainly have even more integration with Adobe products. The advantages of this solution are ease of installation and use. Adobe will ensure that their own products work flawlessly and are easy to use.

Browse the free photo database

The first addition that will appear in the new update will be even better browsing and searching for free images. Magento 2 provides administrators with access to a large bank of free images inside Page Builder and the WYSIWYG editor. Magento 2.4 should have a panel for viewing photos with watermarks and the ability to add them in high quality for preview without leaving the admin panel. It would save a lot of time and effort.

Adobe CIF (Commerce Integration Framework)

Adobe also encourages the use of Commerce Integration Framework. This is the official model for the integration and development of an e-commerce store for the Magento 2 and Experience Cloud platform. As a result, you can get better results in multi-channel sales. It also facilitates integration with source Adobe products.

Adobe Experience platform

On the Magento and Adobe Experience platforms, there are already some fittings in the community to create integration projects. One of them concerns the combination of Adobe Analytics and Adobe Target to provide sellers with the best insight into the customer and his needs. As a result, the store will be better suited to real market requirements and personalized for customers. Magento 2.4 has great potential to facilitate the integration of Adobe Experience Platform with community products, such as Adobe Experience Platform Launch or Magento GraphQL data models and query builders for AEM. Everything to facilitate installation and operation of Magento 2 Adobe Experience Cloud.

Magento PWA

PWA (Progressive Web Apps) is a technology that is gaining popularity among internet marketers due to its integrity between fixed and mobile channels. From the Magento 2.4 perspective, patches and improvements are planned.

Additional libraries

The Peregrine Hooks library will enrich the product description. The modular library will improve not only descriptions, but also product navigation, product basket, payment options, shipping and gallery. Venia components will help you implement Toast notifications and category filters. Additional features of Page Builder and theme themes B2B will also be added. GraphQL and Marketplace support will increase and settings will be improved.

Headless Magento 2.4

In addition to additional PWA tools targeted at developers, Adobe also wants to improve the use of their platform for the sellers and their customers. The new version will be resistant and flexible to accept subsequent integrations. Quick code changes will be possible, even more convenient than in the current version. This means much faster changes in the store, regardless of the scope of iteration and the type of new features. The only question is whether they will be changes that will go as a Magento 2 update or to the new version 2.4?

Security

To increase the security of the new version of Magento, Adobe introduces an auto-patcher. He will be responsible for automatic updates related to securing your e-commerce business. This can become an integral part of Magento 2.4.

Functional test framework

The Magento 2 roadmap contains many references to the functional framework that allows testing the platform. For more information on this topic, see the Magento 2 Functional Testing Framework information.

Magento MSI

Under the name Magento MSI there is Multi-Source Inventory, i.e. a warehouse with many locations. In short, this means streamlining the order system from the nearest warehouse containing the product. Until now Magento 2 did not offer full support for this solution. This update should include, among other things, the possibility of indexing the range, giving unique product names, mass selection of products, cleaning reservations and reporting low stocks.

Magento 2.4 will come out in 2020. Expectations for this update focus on increasing the integration of native Adobe products and improving existing admin panel functions and overall platform design. We hope that the new version will improve sales even better!
